The beauty, who plays teenager Haley Dunphy in the hit U.S. comedy, was just nine years old when she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia, a disease which causes abnormal organ development and often requires a lifetime of dialysis treatment.

The 21 year old has been quietly struggling with the disorder ever since but after landing a role on the Emmy Award-winning series, her health severely deteriorated.

During an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Monday (14May12), she said, "I was in pain a lot of the time. If I didn't get 12 hours of sleep I felt like I got none at all."

Hyland tried to keep her problems under wraps to avoid disrupting the rest of the cast and crew but earlier this year (12), the TV star found a match in her hunt for a donor - her actor dad Edward James Hyland.

She subsequently underwent transplant surgery in April (12) and she's now planning a restful summer of recovery while her show is on hiatus - and she decided to speak out about her health issues to encourage young fans facing similar problems.

Hylands added, "Know that you're not alone, even though it may seem like it a lot of the time. And if you ask, 'Why me?' Well why not you? It makes yourself the person you are today."

The Sex and the City veteran and new mom Hudson have each signed up for multi-episode arcs on the show's upcoming fourth season, which is set to premiere in Spring 2012.

According to Fox President Kevin Reilly, the season will feature a show-within-a-show format and also revolve around the graduating characters played by Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith, as they head off to their respective colleges.

He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Glee is really positioned for a strong year."

Details of Parker and Hudson's characters remain unknown but principal castmember Colfer teased the news during an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Live With Kelly on Monday (14May12), stating, "I just found out last night that Sarah Jessica Parker is coming on our show to be my mentor of sorts, so I'm really excited about that."

Parker and Hudson join a long list of celebrities who have previously featured in the Golden Globe Award-winning musical series - Ricky Martin, Neil Patrick Harris and Gwyneth Paltrow have also appeared.

The happy couple shared its excitement with close friends and family at posh eatery Press Lounge just weeks before the pregnant Wedding Singer star is reportedly due to exchange vows with the art consultant next month (Jun12).

Barrymore's best pal and former Charlie's Angels co-star Cameron Diaz was on hand to lend her support to the bride-to-be, who concealed her baby bump in a blue maxi dress and black blazer.

The small bash capped off an exciting day for Barrymore - she was snapped trying on wedding veils at Suzanne Couture Millinery in Manhattan's Upper East Side with her future mother-in-law Coco on Friday afternoon and she later attended a pre-natal yoga class, according to UsMagazine.com.

This will be Barrymore's third marriage - she was wed to Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas for two months back in 1994 and she walked down the aisle with comedian Tom Green in July 2001 but they split later that year (01).

The actress has also celebrated her engagement to Kopelman on the West Coast - Charlie's Angels producer Leonard Goldberg and his wife Wendy threw the beauty a small wedding shower in Los Angeles last month (Apr12).

The couple's little girl was born in London and Us Weekly magazine reports the child will be named India Rose.

Hemsworth and Pataky wed in 2010 and announced the baby news at the beginning of this year (12).

It's beginning to look like a terrific year for the new dad, who has scored a massive hit with superhero blockbuster The Avengers, in which he portrays Thor. His upcoming action film Snow White & The Huntsman is also set to become one of the summer's biggest releases.

The Brokeback Mountain star was returning to his vehicle after a day of shopping when he saw a law enforcement official lurking near a number of parked cars.

A witness tells America's Star magazine, "Jake was shopping in Beverly Hills and noticed a few parking metres were about to expire. And he saw that the parking enforcers were standing right there, waiting to issue tickets when they ran out."

In a bid to save the drivers from a hefty fine, Gyllenhaal reached into his pocket for some spare change and used the coins to stave off the metres from expiration.

The German beauty lodged papers in a Los Angeles court on Friday (06Apr12), requesting joint legal custody of the couple's four kids and primary physical custody.

On Tuesday (10Apr12), the Kiss From a Rose hitmaker followed suit with his own divorce filing.

The documents suggest he is set to challenge Klum for joint physical custody of their children, but a source tells People.com the wording is just a legal technicality and the former couple is not bracing for a court showdown.

Both stars have cited irreconcilable differences for the breakdown of their relationship.

The pair wed in May, 2005 and announced its split in January (12).

Anne's role is Fantine, whose beauty deteriorates as she attempts to care for her child (selling both her two front teeth and her hair), turns to prostitution and becomes ill with tuberculosis.

A major transformation is required for the part, considering how glowing Anne looks. Her publicist, Stephen Huvane, says, "Anne is on a special diet, but is not looking to lose that much weight and she's consuming more than 500 calories a day."

She also chopped off her locks, leaving it short on the side with a bit more at the top.

The crop will suit Fantine well, but we're curious to see if Anne grows in back in a rush or keeps it around, joining Michelle Williams' pixie cut club.

British writer Laurie Penny was left stunned after The Notebook star swooped in to save her when she stepped into a busy New York City street on Tuesday (03Apr12).

Penny immediately took to her Twitter.com page to share her lucky escape with followers and to hail Gosling a hero.

She tweeted, "I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened. I was crossing 6th Avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi... He said, 'Hey, watch out!'"

Penny then joked, "I would also like to thank the several other, more anonymous New Yorkers who have saved me from cars since my stay here."

Released on Wednesday (04Apr12), the official findings also offer up details of the drugs found in the Los Angeles hotel room at the time of Houston's death on 11 February (12).

The L.A. County coroner has already ruled that Houston's passing was an accidental drowning with the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use" as contributing factors as part of a preliminary report released last month (Mar12).

The new document states investigators found a white, crystalline substance and spoon with residue on a bathroom counter and "a rolled-up piece of white paper, along with other miscellaneous items."

Remnants of "a white, powdery substance" were also found on the base of a portable mirror, according to the autopsy report. Investigators have concluded that Houston "possibly overdosed on a narcotic substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol."

Reports suggest she also had traces of marijuana in her system, as well as anxiety pills Xanax and allergy medication Benadryl.

Officials say there were no signs of foul play. Houston died hours before she was set to attend her mentor and friend Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy Awards party at the hotel.

The actor will also star in a TV ad campaign for the drink.
